Best Playgrounds & Parks for Kids in Mildura

Play Zone Kids Club

If you are searching for the perfect Mildura playgrounds and parks for a day out with the kids, then you will be pleased to learn you are spoiled for choice! From the Park for Play to the Mildura Water Park, there are countless options for those looking for a quiet picnic, some serious adventure, or perhaps a mixture of the two. To help you decide, our team of locals at The Gateway have put together a couple of our favourite parks & playgrounds below.

Park for Play Mildura

Park for Play at Aerodrome Ovals has become the place to be for kids and families looking for awesome Mildura playgrounds. Fully fenced, built atop a soft base, and with designs to include kids of all ages and abilities, Play for Park Mildura has something for everyone.

The main structure has a series of bright and yellow roofs, and with running, zig-zagging ramps, many visitors describe it to look like a giant yabby! Kids will find a selection of alphabet and number panels along the ramps, as well as a wide tunnel slide and single/dual wave slides to scoot down. For the kids looking to power upwards instead, there is also a challenging climbing wall, scrambling walls, and chain ladders. Park for Play also includes some old-time favourites with modern upgrades, including:

  • Mazes
  • Tic-Tac-Toe
  • Eight swings underneath shade sails
  • Chain walkways
  • Fireman’s pole
  • Steering wheels
  • Monkey bars
  • Springs
  • And more!

Oh, and if you are visiting with kids brimming with imagination, get ready to blast off with their collection of rounded spaceships! Park for Play is definitely one of the best days out in Mildura!

Jaycee Park

If you have already spent a considerable amount of time at Park for Play Mildura, then perhaps it is time for a visit to Jaycee Park.

Found right at the west end of Hugh King Drive, Jaycee Park features a real, K class train engine for kids (and adults) to marvel at, as well as spacious grassy areas, peppered with beautiful trees offering comfortable, shaded sections throughout the parks for picnics and rest spots. The play equipment itself can be found throughout the park, with the largest structure taking the form of a decked-out pirate ship, complete with:

  • Extended ramp
  • Two-wave slides
  • Climbing mat wall
  • Binoculars
  • Fireman’s pole
  • Steering wheels
  • Speak & listen system
  • Interactive panels, including the ‘Find the Treasure’ panel
  • Elevated balance beams
  • Hanging chains (with footholds included)

Smaller children can also enjoy a fenced-off section as a maze, filled with more panels, tunnels, shop fronts, musical instruments and more to explore. Further along, you will find a towering rope climbing frame and wall, as well as a long, standalone flying fox, as well as the traditional swings, slides and springers.

Mildura Water Play Park

When the temperatures start to rise, sometimes the monkey bars, swings and slides on the playground can prove a bit too hot for the kids, but never fear! With the Mildura Water Play Park open between 10 am to 9 pm every day during the summer months, there is always something to keep them entertained (and cool) – all for free! Little ones can run through a mixture of pumps, weirs, fountains, bridges, and sensory stones, and families can come together in the shade for a BBQ or picnic with food and beverages from the vintage caravan nearby.

There is also the Longwe Tree Sculpture standing across from a large, deep pond adjacent to the playground. This stands as a contemporary interpretation of the sacred trees, and symbolises a better connection to country, as well as thousands of years of culture.
